Wolverhampton Businesses: Why Are Your Energy Bills So High? Here is the only way to reduce them...

Businesses up and down the country are, quite literally, paying the price for pompous politician's personal passion projects via extortionately high standing charges.

Ever wonder why your energy bills keep climbing? It is because of people like Ed Miliband and their "Net Zero" zealotry.

The cost of maintaining the grid has soared as a percentage of our bill... from 5% 15 years ago, to more than 20% and rising.

The energy from solar and wind is bountiful, but unpredictable, thinly spread, and most often in sparsely populated areas many miles away from where it's needed.

This puts immense pressure on the National Grid, and the cost of constructing these behemoth machines... offshore wind turbines contain more concrete than Wembley Stadium.. to collect the energy is rarely considered.

We have gone from a low-cost high-carbon energy supply to a high-cost low-carbon version... with no benefit to the economy or the environment (the UK produces just 0.8% of all carbon emissions) and other countries have much cheaper energy, the US, China, France, Germany... pretty much everyone, putting our economy, our security, and our values at risk.

“Destroying industry and damaging households”

Even Tony Blair's think tank, the TBI, is warning that Miliband's pledge to decarbonise UK electricity by 2030 is "destroying industry and damaging households."

While we've never been supporters of Tony Blair… a lot of the problems we're grappling with today started under him… but on this, he's hit the nail on the head.

Miliband's reaction? Fury. He reportedly ordered his team to reject the TBI's findings.

This isn't about what's best for the country or our local businesses; it's about ego and a desperate attempt to leave a legacy, even if that legacy means crippling our economy.

You see, those incredibly high standing charges on your energy bills? They're funding this "Green Jobs revolution." While there might be a lot of "green jobs," they aren't real jobs... ie generated out of profit and need... they are funded by you, the business owner, as subsidies account for more than 90% of them. It's a massive wealth transfer, and it's hitting your bottom line directly.

The UK has lost the race for green innovation. China controls 80% of the world’s rare earth minerals - essential for green technologies - and we don’t even have a plan to secure our supply.

It's a stark reminder of our past. Just as coal was to the UK 200 years ago, rare earth minerals are to China today. We're trading one dependency for another, and this time, we're not in control. You can read more about this on our blog: The Post-Coal Lottery.

It's time for Wolverhampton business owners to wake up to the direct cost implications of this green energy fallacy. While domestic customers

ree

charges are capped, businesses are left to foot the bill. We need a realistic energy policy that prioritises affordable, reliable power for our businesses, not political ambition.

The only solution left to business owners is clear: vote for a politician who is not detached from reality, spending YOUR money on these wasteful, misguided vanity projects. Vote, vote, vote… it’s our only hope.
